1. We all have some desires. Like we want to get slim. Now we have two options to achieve that goal. In the first option we do that work but we don’t have any GOAL or PURPOSE. We can't sustain this for long time. We just practice it for a few days and then trail our regular routine. The problem is that it’s completely boring. Like if you want to go for walk every day and it’s purposeless. But you stop doing it after someday because it becomes boring. Now if you have some purposes like you want to decrease your cholesterol because it may take your life. Now you have some purpose and now you can go for a walk every day.
2. In the second instance we set a HUGE goal. For example, we made our mind that we are doing a particular exercise to bring down that current weight, 80, to 70. We practiced exercise and yoga for an hour. The next day we again did exercises for an hour. But next day we don’t do that exercise. We look ourselves in the mirror and it says everything. ‘Nothing is going to happen. Everything is waste. Then why do exercise?” we say to ourselves.
But these two points are a major problem in themselves.
3. But there is a third option in the middle of the two. We have to make LITTLE goals. And as we have achieved that goal, we have to award ourselves.
How it works:
For example you made your mind to do yoga every day. The first thing you have to do is to know your capacity. If you can do yoga for 15 minutes, next day take it up to 17 minutes or 20 minutes and when we achieve that goal reward yourself or just appreciate. We just have to do our work better than the previous time and we have to reward ourselves.
The benefit is that you’ll not lose the thirst to do it next day. Suppose you are willing to do yoga for 1 hour. You just have to do it 50 minutes, so that you have the thirst to do it next day. But if you kept your mind with same, you may do it today but the next to you’ll get bored.
Don’t do your work as work; instead make it a game and play. We never get bored playing but we do get bored doing work.
The basic concept is that; you have to be thirsty every day to do that work. Hence, do less then you will. If you want to dance 20 minutes; just do it 15 minutes. If you want to exercise for 30 minutes; do it for 20 minutes. And as you started doing that miracle will happen.
You don’t have to run or stop, you just have to keep moving. This mentality should owed by everyone. Everything takes time. You can’t build a palace in one day. It only happens in movies.
‘Set a simple goal in exercise. I have to do exercise 20 minutes today. But I’ll do it 10 minutes. Now it’s a little simple. I have to change my habit and it’s not going to change in a day. I’ll do it regularly.
Simple goal + simple goal + simple goal + simple goal + … = Big results!!!
Now go, DO.
